Encarta.

Remember before the Internet, when you had to do your shitty little primary school assignment research with Encarta? And then you’d just end up watching an excerpt from Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech, or listening to about 5 seconds of “Take The A-Train”?

Yeah, this entry’s goin’ nowhere.

Anyone read any good books lately? Books? The rectangular things, with printed matter inside? Books?

I highly recommend The Architectural Uncanny: Essays in the Modern Unhomely by Anthony Vidler. If you’re like me, and urban spaces make you feel nervous and ill, this book’s for you. We should all live in caves, I say. Plato’s Caves.

I think I should shut this blog down. Show of hands?

    Don’t shut ‘er down!

I just finished reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance today. Great book. The “philosophy” in it is all wrong, but the idea of riding cross America on a bike sounds awesome.

Well time to hold BK hostage as a bargining chip for keeping this blog up.

So it’s worth reading, Phil? Maybe I’ll get around to it some day. It smacks of Baby Boomer pseudo-philosophy, though…

I remember at my high school, we always had a week of ‘end of year activities’. They ranged from going to the zoo, to shopping trips in Melbourne, to crappy school-based activities that the poor kids whose parents wouldn’t pay for activities had to do. One of them was called ‘Zen And The Art Of Locker Maintenance’, and was run by our school’s handyman/janitor. Just thought I’d share that.

The riding across America thing does sound intriguing. I wonder if it’d be like “Wild Hogs”?

One day I’m gonna get Laura to go on a Great American Road Trip with me. We just heard stories of her uncle and cousin who stopped at Yellowstone on their way back from her cousin’s school in Texas, and apparently the other tourists they met were really friendly. Sounds lovely. I’m so starved for common human decency I would actually go halfway across the country to meet some friendly people.

Then there’s our “80s movie filming location road trip” that we’ve been planning. Gonna have to get our hands on a DeLorean for that, though.

Wow, that Zen and Art of Locker Maintenace sounds a little too clever for its own good…

The book is good. The writing style is very…Masculine. Like Hemmingway, maybe? I’m not sure. The book is online here: http://www.virtualschool.edu/mon/Quality/PirsigZen/

I’m in love with travelling. That’s the whole reason I’m studying pilgrimage now - just so I can do “field research”. The journey and meeting interesting characters along the way is what I’m into…

    Ahhhh I can’t wait till I get back to Japan…Roll on September…

Don’t shut it down. See, I’m not the only one who thinks that its good. Although, I did like that other idea you had for a blog, too.

Quick Laura! Use your feminine charm to seduce him into keeping this up (seeing as how he clearly doesn’t care that I just sold BK kid to organ donors) I’m sure that’s how you got him to sit through the entire series of Jem. ; )

Sadly enough I was already into Jem (and purchased the DVDs) before I met her. :O

See, that is just one of the reasons you’re the coolest boyfriend ever. I love you. I love that you even know the words to some of the songs, and that occasionally you’ll randomly start singing them with me. You’re the best. Really.

Don’t believe her! She said the same thing to the Atomic Video clerk after he gave her free rentals on all Disney films in the store. XD
